What can I do for leads who register for my course site but abandon their cart during checkout?

Abandoned carts are a symptom of indecision and the human urge to test out the functionality of a website. Fortunately, anyone abandoning a cart in Thinkific has given you something valuable, their email address.

Here's how to run a retention campaign in Thinkific:

1. Segment your users in the Users Report. 

  1. Go to Users in your dashboard
  2. Click Advanced Search
  3. Use the filter Amount Spent and set it to is less than or equal to 0.
  4. Now you have a list of users who have abandoned the cart on your site, or registered and didn't make a purchase.

2. If you're on a paid plan, select all of the users and email them with the Mass User Email tool (you can also select all and export the list to .csv which can be added to an email marketing tool like ConvertKit for a more advanced email notification for your students).

3. Make sure your messaging has the following:

  1. A personalized message (use the variables like {{first_name}} to populate an email with the user's data) 
  2. A clear call to action, inviting them to buy a course on your site (link them to the landing page).
  3. An incentive (a coupon for the course you're linking them to, or a coupon for any course on your site).
